And they’re off! 132 runners from as far away as North Tonawanda, NY Pennsylvania and North Carolina competed in the eighth annual Smithville Day 5K. Top female finisher was Trish Horan of Norwich, NY and top male was Jeff Martinez of Binghamton, NY.

Report on the 2012 race 6/9/12

The eighth running of the Smithville Day 5K took place June 9, 2012 starting at 9:30 a.m. 132 runners competed in the race. The temperatures were in the low 60s, overcast with light rain. The top female finisher was Trish Horan with a time of 19:49 and the top male finisher was Jeff Martinez with a record setting time of 15:31!

Runners were treated to dozens of door prizes, huge homemade cookies, a free beverage at Seeber's and a goody bag with a custom printed ceramic coffee mug.

Report on the 2011 race 6/11/11

The seventh running of the Smithville Day 5K took place June 11, 2011 starting at 9:30 a.m. 114 runners competed in the race. The temperatures were in the low 70s, humid with an overcast sky. The top female finisher was Trish Horan with a time of 20:06 and the top male finisher was Juan Martinez with a time of 16:34.

Runners were treated to dozens of door prizes, huge homemade cookies, a goody bag with a custom printed ceramic coffee mug, several locally produced products and a free lift ticket for mountain biking at Plattekill Mountain!

Report on the 2010 race 6/12/10

The sixth running of the Smithville Day 5K took place June 12, 2010 starting at 9:30 a.m. 125 runners competed in the race. The temperatures were in the mid 70s with an overcast sky. The top female finisher was Murphee Hayes with a time of 19:14 and the top male finisher for four years in a row was Shaun Horan with a time of 17:05.

This 5K run/walk kicks-off a day-long celebration in Smithville. Other activities include a parade, tractor-pull, craft show, flea market and chicken barbeque. This race is being offered by the Town of Smithville and our local volunteer fire department to contribute to a building-fund for a new fire station.

The fifth running of the Smithville Day 5K took place June 13, 2009 starting at 9:30 a.m. 132 runners competed in the race. The temperatures were in the low 70s with sunny skies. The top female finisher was Samantha Augeri with a time of 20:31 and the top male finisher for three years in a row was Shaun Horan with a time of 16:58.

The fourth running of the Smithville Day 5K took place June 14, 2008 starting at 9:30 a.m. 110 runners competed in 77 degree weather with 78% humidity and sunny. The top female finisher was Anna Crumb of Greene and the top male finisher for two years in a row was Shaun Horan of Norwich. The date for next year's race is Saturday, June 13th, 2009.

The third running of the Smithville Day 5K took place June 9, 2007 starting at 9:32 a.m. 70 runners competed in 70 degree weather and sunny. The top female finisher was Charlene Lyford of Greene and the top male finisher was Shaun Horan of Norwich also setting a new course record of 16:27. The date for next year's race is Saturday, June 14th, 2008.
